SP 33 Wirtgen concrete paver can rotate its 90 degrees to pave in two configurations: traditional and offset. In traditional configuration, the unit can pave structures such as curbs, gutters, and barriers up to 52 inches high.
When tracks are rotated into the offset configuration, termed Crosspave, the machine paves transversely to the direction of travel. It can pave slabs up to 10 feet or 8 feet with a trimmer.
Changing configurations, according to Wirtgen, takes 90 minutes or less. The mold is removed, leaving the vibrators attached, and the new mold is attached. Valve blocks are moved and reattached.
The concrete paver utilizes AutoPilot 2.0. The two crawler units with parallelogram swing legs at the front and a laterally adjustable crawler unit at the rear enable zero-clearance installation and maximum flexibility.
The paver’s operating system, termed Human Machine Interface, will be rolled out onto other Wirtgen products, including stabilizers and milling machines. The operator can customize controls using the HMI.
