Record amount for contracts with PA. Small, diverse and experienced companies

The Pennsylvania Department of General Services (DGS)On Wednesday, $ 1.24 billion for contracts with small companies, small different companies and companies in veteran transactions were spent on Wednesday for a second year.

This exceeds the $ 1.1 billion, which was issued in the 2022-23 financial year-and marked another record investment after governor Josh Shapiro has carried out improvements to the contract process.

“This record investment of $ 1.24 billion in small, diverse and veteran companies reflects the unshakable commitment of the Shapiro-Davis administration for the promotion of economic growth through Commonwealth”, Reggie McNeil, DGS Secretary Reggie McNeil, in in an explanation. “By reducing certification times, implementing faster salary guidelines and hosting of events such as the small business empowerment summit, we break down barriers and create real opportunities that these companies can thrive.

“This is more about contracts – it is about building stronger communities, creating jobs and ensuring that every company has a fair recording of doing business with Commonwealth,” added McNeil.

According to a press release, DGS has improvements in the programs and guidelines managed by the Bureau of Diversity, Inclusion and Small Company (BDISBO) (BDISBO) implement with the state and increase the number of opportunities available.

The steps taken by the DGS include the following:

  • Reduction of the time required to certify a small company with DGS by 33%.
  • Implementation of a fast salary guideline to ensure that non -construction prime operators pay the payment of subcontractors within 10 days of receiving the payment from the Commonwealth.
  • Implementation of a new communication practice to proactively inform over 5,000 registered small companies and over 300 lawyers for small businesses and stakeholder organizations about upcoming procurement options.
  • In a partnership with the Foreign Ministry to voluntarily collect information from companies so that BDISBO can determine whether they are qualified as SBS, SDBs or VBEs and connect interested companies with Commonwealth contracting opportunities.
  • The implementation of 64 virtual and personal Outreach events, in which more than 3,000 participants in Pennsylvania were achieved, aimed to inform the small business world about how to do business with the Commonwealth.
  • Start of a mentor protégé program to combine 12 small companies in Pennsylvanian with six main customers to equip them with the tools they need to better compete for state contracts.
  • Implementation of a new curricula for virtual business development, which contains six modules for the procurement process and the guidelines of the Commonwealth so that small companies can access free of charge.

The Shapiro-Davis administration has launched a number of targeted efforts to help small, small, diverse and experienced companies, to submit successful offers and to provide better services for pennsyanians.

“Small businesses are the economic engines and the life elixir of our communities, and they make up more than 99 percent of companies here in Pennsylvania and all over the country,” said Governor Austin Davis, governor of Lt., Davis. “When we have the Commonwealth, Governor Shapiro and I have heard again and again that small business owners want a flat field to fight for state contracts.

The report 2023-24 shows increased payments for small companies (SBS), small different companies (SBDS) and veteran companies (VBEs) that continue to stimulate economic growth throughout the state:

  • Expenditures with SDBs and VBEs reached a new high of 692 million US financial year.
  • SBS (without SDBs and VBEs) received payments of $ 548 million, which corresponds to around 9.5% of the total Commonwealth editions for goods and services in the 2023-24 financial year. That is at 447 million US dollars or about 8% of the total state expenditure for goods and services in the previous financial year.
  • The total expenditure of the Commonwealth with SBS led to an estimated economic impact of 11,600 jobs, taxes of federal taxes in the amount of $ 180 million and state and local taxes of $ 115 million.

DGS also terminated the appointment of Dr. Erica Patterson on the leadership role of monitoring BDISBO's work as deputy secretary for diversity, inclusion and small businesses. Since 2015 she has been a director of contracts and supplier diversity at Philadelphia Gas Works and managed budgets over $ 150 million for professional and non -professional services and at the same time promotes the commitment and integration of various, local and small companies.
