US-made components
Suniva, the largest and oldest American manufacturer of highly efficient monocrystalline silicon solar cells, has teamed up with Heliere, a prominent US solar PV module manufacturer, to produce solar modules with a high percentage of domestic content.
Corning, a worldwide leading provider of materials science, provides the Wafer that are required for the solar cells.
As a majority owner of Hemlock Semiconductor (HSC), Corning also delivers the hyper-pure polysilicium required for the modules.
Both the polysilicium and the wafers are produced in Michigan, while the solar cells are produced in Georgia, creating a fully integrated supply chain.
This partnership is intended to ensure that solar developers can access high -quality American components, which gives them a competitive advantage on the market.
The new solar modules created by this initiative will contain up to 66% domestic content, the highest percentage in the industry.
This increase in domestic content offers solar developers the opportunity to claim the bonus of the Investment Tax Credit (ITC), an essential incentive that can significantly reduce the costs for solar systems.
