The annual Winter Break Sustainable Setback Program begins December 23: UNM Newsroom

Between December 23 and January 1, UNM Facilities Management, in collaboration with Lobo Energy, will implement a temperature reduction initiative in unoccupied spaces on our campuses.

The aim of this strategic measure is to minimize energy consumption and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The impact of this adjustment will be primarily felt in hallways, offices and classrooms in buildings selected for the Winter Break Setback Program.

It is important to note that all healthcare facilities and research laboratories will maintain their regular temperature settings and will not be affected by this program.

If you enter a building subject to the winter break setback program and wish to adjust the temperature, you have the option to override the system and activate the heating for a period of two hours by adjusting the thermostat. We ask that this action be limited to work areas only.

Your cooperation in this initiative is greatly appreciated as we collectively strive to help reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Your efforts play a critical role in promoting sustainability on our campus
