The growth of the US building material price in March slowed down in March

A closer look at the report of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) producer Price Index (PPI) for March, whereby the analysis of the National Association of Home Builders (Nahb) has given 0.6% in March. The increase for February was revised to 0.7%.

The inputs for the new housing construction price index rose by 1.3%compared to the previous year. This index consists of two main components – goods and services – both by 1.3% over the course of the year. For comparison, the overall daily index, which reflects the prices for all goods and services in the entire economy, increased by 2.7%over the course of the year. The prices for goods rose by 0.9%within this, while the services rose by 3.6%.

According to Nahb, the goods component in the new housing construction price index has a higher weight, which is about 60% of the total amount. In March, the price of goods inputs for residential construction rose by 0.5%.

Energy input prices decreased by 3.9% in March and went 14.9% back to the eighth in a row compared to the previous year compared to the previous year. In contrast, building material prices rose by 0.8% during the month and was 2.7% higher than a year ago.

Input services

According to Nahng, the prices for housing construction rose by 1.1% in March, but declined by 0.1% compared to the previous year. The service input index consists of three components: trading services (60%of the index), transport and warehouse supply services (11%) and other services with the exception of these two categories (29%).

Commercial service prices rose by 0.7%last year, other services rose by 1.6%, and transport and warehouse services rose by 3.6%compared to the previous year.
