April 16, 2025, press release from Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative:
Paulding, Ohio – Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative (PPEC) officially starts the construction phase of its high-speed fiber internet project, a transforming step to bridge the digital gap for members and companies in the northwest of Ohio and in the northeast of Indiana. By autumn 2025, the first customer should have fiber optic internet service.
The Mainline fiber construction began on April 15 on April 15, the contractor of PPEC, ITG Communications, in the Mainline -Mainline fiber. The construction will continue in the transformer area of Roselm by June 2025. The service will not be installed at this time, but an interest form will soon be available.
This marks a historical milestone, since the cooperative extends its mission from providing reliable electrical service to the provision of a fast, affordable and reliable internet.
On Monday, April 14th, PPEC also stopped a meeting for employees and contractors to discuss the project expectations. The state representative and PPEC member Roy Klopffenstein took part in the meeting to provide a legal update and express his support.
An approach to connectivity based on community
PPECS FIBRE Internet Service ARM is first equipped with the same members who have defined the electrical operation of the cooperative. With many rural houses and companies that still have no access to qualitative Internet, this project focuses on achieving sensible, permanent infrastructure improvements where they are most needed.
“The electrical side will also benefit from this,” said Nick Eltzroth, Chief Operating Officer from PPEC. “All members will see the advantage that we combine our substances using fiber optic technology. It enables PPEC to identify and restore power outages with improved communication between the devices.”
The cooperative also works with counties and villages all over Ohio and Indiana to identify needs areas and ensure that the expansion efforts match the local priorities.
Setting of broadband talents
In order to support the growing requirements of this service, PPEC stops two important positions:
- Broadband technician
- IT & Broadband Systems Manager
Those who are interested in the application can visit PPEC.Coop/opplions for complete job descriptions.
What comes next and how members can get involved?
In the coming months, PPEC will launch an online form so that the members can express interest in receiving services as soon as the Internet is available in its region.
The members are also encouraged to work for the project by submitting a short video in which it is explained how reliable, high-speed internet has a positive effect on their lives or why it is needed in your community. These stories can be used in advertising measures to illustrate the real effects of this project.
Feedback and video submissions can be accepted by e -mail to an e -mail fiber@ppec.coop.
“We really want to hear from you,” says CEO Randy Price. “The Paulding Putnam Board and the employees are driven as a member and the community focus, whereby all experiences learn to improve what we do for you, improve and invest in your future. We look forward to serving in this new capacity.”
