US DOT and PHMSA updates
Phmsa increases civil penalties
The fines of violations of the Hazmat are now between $ 617 and over 238,000 $ 2025. Stay compliant to avoid strong punishments.
PhMSA approves the use of 2025 ICAO/IMDG
With a implementation in December 2024, you can use users with the latest ICAO and IMDG rules for air and ocean programs.
USPS updates
USPS final rule effective January 2025
USPS has updated a final publication of the rule in order to require harder outer packaging for dangerous materials and non -regulated toxic materials. Some lithium battery programs can use padded bags if drop test criteria are met.
Canadian TDG updates
111 tank cars
In order to align yourself on the ongoing initiatives for the safety of Transport Canada, May 1, 2025, the tank of class 111 and the CPC-1232 tanks for import, the offer, handling or transporting the flammable liquids of class 3 in Canada are no longer permitted.
CID developments:
The location registration as part of TDGR is in force. Fine may apply if you have not yet registered.
Osha and Health Canada updates
Memory – OSHA – implementation dates:
The revised Hazard Communication Standard of Osha, which is now organized with GHS Revision 7, is in force. Compliance periods approach substances until January 2026 and until July 2027 for mixtures. Make sure that your labels and SDS are on the right track to meet the new requirements.
Sodium-ion batteries-a deep dive
Sodium ion batteries are a new type of battery. Their properties resemble lithium-ion batteries, but have some advantages, e.g. B. lower costs and simpler recycling. For 2025, the IMDG code, the ICAO instructions and the IATA-Dangerous goods regulations have added four new UN numbers for sending sodium ion batteries as standalones or in or with equipment. While the US Dot and Transport Canada have not yet included them in their national regulations, there are problem bypasses with which you can also use these new descriptions for soil traffic.
