Heidelberg Materials North America has further strengthened his hold in sustainable construction with the acquisition of key assets from Concruse Crusers Inc. (CCI), the largest concrete recycler from Calgary. The transaction includes CCIS Recyceltes Agregat Yard in Southeast Calgary and his contractual care business, which operates four mobile systems.

“The takeover of the CCI assets strengthens our existing footprint on the Calgary market and accelerates our focus on recycled concrete aggregates and circular solutions,” said Oliver Patsch, President of the Northwest region for Heidelberg Materials North America.

This strategic step corresponds to the broader commitment of Heidelberg Materials to optimize its portfolio in the core markets and to expand its sustainable product offers. In recent years, the company has priority of bolter-on acquisitions that improve existing operations and at the same time promote the principles of the circular economy, including the integration of recycled building materials.

Acceleration of the transition to low -carbon construction

Recycled aggregates play a crucial role in decarbonizing the built environment by reducing the dependence on virgin materials and the reduction of embedded carbon emissions in infrastructure projects. The acquisition of CCI builds on Heidelberg's ongoing efforts to expand circular solutions in key markets according to similar sustainability acquisitions.

“We are pleased to increase our recycled concrete offers in this growing market and look forward to welcoming the CCI employees in our team.” Punch added.

The integration of CCI's assets will not only improve Heidelberg's ability to produce recycled aggregates, but also to strengthen its role in sustainable building practices throughout West Canada. With four mobile squeeze under its control, the company is ready to rationalize the conversion of torn concrete into valuable materials for new developments.

A growing trend in sustainable building materials

In the entire industry, investments in recycled aggregates and carbon building materials accelerate in response to regulatory shifts and the sustainability obligations for companies. Heidelberg materials were at the top of this movement and promote circular solutions that match both the economic and the environmental goals.

Since cities and developers are increasingly prioritizing sustainable building practices, recycled concrete becomes a widespread part of infrastructure projects. With the expansion of his recycled aggregate in Calgary, Heidelberg Materials positions itself as a leader in the shift of the region to circular design models.
