Oxford Board approves a contract for the reconstruction of Rabbit Valley Road

Oxford – The Board of Selectmen on Thursday the excavation of Paris awarded the contract for the reconstruction of Rabbit Valley Road with the excavation of Paris, whereby the work is expected to begin soon.

Rob Prue from Pine Tree Engineering checked the five offers that were received with selected offers during their two -week meeting.

The offers were between almost $ 1.4 million and $ 2.9 million. Bedard excavation submitted the low bid.

Prue recommended the contract to the civil engineer and found that the company has successfully completed several construction projects in Oxford in the past. Selectmen unanimously agreed.

The Rabbit Valley Road runs between the King Street and Route 26.

The city will sign 85,000 US dollars for the project. This money was acquired at last year's city assembly. A grant of a total of 1.6 million US dollars received by the Maine Ministry of Main will cover the rest of the project.

The construction is expected to begin this month or early July and complete until autumn, said Prue.

“It will be messy,” said Prue. “There will be traffic delays like any other construction project.”

Signs are placed to limit the traffic on the Rabbit Valley Road to local limitation.
