Confessions of a businessman in a corruption investigation by the former mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoğlu, were confirmed by a report by the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (Masak). Adem Kameroğlu, a contractor, admitted that during an examination of the alleged criminal network of Imamoğlu, he delivered a villa as a bribe.
The Masak report shows that SSB Inşaat, a company of Imamoğlu, paid cash for this villa, but the money was returned to the company's account, which confirmed that it was an attempt to disguise the bribes.
Kameroğlu previously informed the investigators that he bribed Imamoğlu with a lakeside villa in the BüyükmeCe district in Istanbul in order to acquire an approval for his construction project in the heart of Beylikdüzü, an Istanbul district, in which Imamoğlu in the cities of the top offices in the cities in the cities Cities was served in the 2019 elections. Kameroğlu has informed the investigators that Imamoğlu “bought” a villa of him in exchange for approvals for his residential development next to the municipal building of Bylikdüzü in 2016. He said Imamoğlu and his wife later visited the villa, which was still on the building, and forced him to taste all the interior design costs. He added that SSB Inşaat paid him about 1.5 million for the purchase of the villa, but it was only about avoiding the inspection, and he handed over the money he received Yılmaz.
