1. In the new year Louisiana heralds new THC and CBD resolutions for 2025
With every new year there is new changes. At the beginning of 2025, the state of Louisiana issued new laws in relation to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) products. In the state of Bayou from January 1, 2025, THC and CBD items were reduced to 5 mg. Before that, these products were allowed to contain these cannabinoids at 8 mg. In addition, petrol stations were prevented from selling this type of products in the new year, and the age limit for buying cannabis was 21 years old.
2. California changes to cement emergency rules to limit hemp products
In an announcement of the proposed regulation on June 13, 2025, the California Ministry of Public Health (CDPH) announced a hearing on certain cannabis and hemp regulations in the state. The regulations currently being carried out are protected to protect consumers' health and security, especially young people. These emergency regulations will take place on September 23, 2025, although the CDPh is now proposing to permanently shape the regulations. A 45-day public commentary period began on June 13 and a hearing to public comments is planned for July 28, 2025.
3. Cannabis legalization law fits over in the house in Pennsylvania
On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, Pennsylvania's House of Representatives voted for the adoption of a legislative proposal that would legalize cannabis in the state of adults aged 21 and over. The legislation was introduced on May 4, 2025 and prescribed from the House Health Committee the next day. The proposal was adopted 102-101. All Republicans voted against the draft law while the Democrats voted for the support of their death. Unfortunately, the draft law is not adopted in the Senate.
4. Medical cannabis Bill Veto by Virginia Governor
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin Vetoed HB 1989, a medical cannabis calculation that should help to make improvements in product identification for medical cannabis products and “permissible delivery locations”. Since the legislation is no longer able to become a law, the provisions of the Virginia Cannabis control authority are now put into force. This includes reducing access for medical cannabis patients. Medical cannabis may only be delivered to the patient's residence.
5. Legislators of the state of Missouri urge stricter rules for hemp products
In February 2025, the bills were passed in Missouri that would have an impact on how hemp products are sold in the state. On February 5, a draft law of the representative committee passed a vote of 12 to 5, while a draft law was passed on February 6 in a Senate Committee with a vote of 5 to 1. Both legislation would allow products with hemp-derived THC to continue to be sold in shops, while intoxicating foods and vapes cannot be sold outside of the pharmacies. Both would also implement a three -stage distribution system.
