This edition of Bustler's curated selection of notable architecture and design competitions includes four calls for proposals for designs for a new soccer stadium for Czech club FC Baník Ostrava, outstanding kitchen designs and exceptional projects from North American designers who showcase inventive use of Italian ceramic tiles in their work and innovative student proposals, which aim to accelerate green urban regeneration.

“The subject of the competition is the design of an architectural solution for a football stadium of FC Baník Ostrava, as, which meets the UEFA criteria for the highest stadium category and allows the hosting of international matches in all football categories. The new stadium, with significant national significance, aims to bring the game closer to fans and create the best possible viewing experience. The client expects the project to result in a structure that meets contemporary environmental, operational and accessibility standards. fits seamlessly into the surrounding urban environment.”

“The KCMA® Design Awards program recognizes outstanding kitchen designs from kitchen designers, interior designers and architects working throughout the United States to promote public interest in outstanding cabinet design. The competition focuses attention on the quality of cabinet environments in kitchens while highlighting designers play an important role in every community.”

“The “Ceramics of Italy” tile competition is officially accepting submissions for its 2025 North American edition! Organized by Confindustria Ceramica (the Italian Ceramics Association) and the Italian Trade Agency, this prestigious, long-standing awards program recognizes the exceptional work of North American architects, designers and students who use Italian ceramic tiles from Ceramics of Italy member brands in their projects.”

2024/25 students reinvent cities

Deadline for entries: Thursday, May 29, 2025

“Participating world-leading cities select urban areas in urgent need of redevelopment. These sites are open to students and young people around the world for redevelopment and showcase creative and innovative solutions that address urban climate goals, resident priorities and local challenges. Interested participants select a location/city to develop a proposal. Participants then form teams and develop a comprehensive action plan for the site. Projects should aim to transform urban areas into green and thriving neighborhoods, integrating the “15-minute city” model & proximity approach for low-carbon urbanization.”
