Job purpose
The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a central pool of academic employees as part of the Professional Officer program. Professional civil servants have special and deep technical skills that have been acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool, which gives the students learning an urgently needed industry perspective. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in sit and complement the academic specialist knowledge of the faculty in order to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum.
Professional civil servants use their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments in which discovery and innovation take place. They act as a trainer and mentors for students in practical learning activities such as laboratory meetings, Capstone projects and the integrated Work Study Program (IWSP). Professional leaders could also lead or work together with the Faculty of Industry Innovation Projects to provide solutions to the industry.
In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, professional civil servants manage the centralized laboratory facilities and resources in sit. With technical officials, experts for laboratory security and administrators in POD, they jointly develop a central policy and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in sit.
Important responsibilities
- Design and inform Labors & Exercise modules.
- Mentor students in Capstone projects and the integrated Work Study Program (IWSP).
- Leading innovation projects with industry or co-managers.
- Manage laboratories and devices to support academic programs and applied research.
- Ensure security in laboratories.
Job requirements
- A good conclusion in chemical engineering or a related area. Master, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous.
- Success record in project management and the effective industry experience in chemical process technology.
- Deep Technical Specialist with 10 or more years of professional experience in uniform operations (e.g. heat exchanger, distillation column, reactors, cooling tower, etc.).
- Practical knowledge of quality management systems and technical standards, including, but not limited to ISO9001, Osha and BSI etc.
- Practiced in the chemical process design software (for e.g. Hysys)
- Knowledge in analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-Oes, ICP-MS and related methods, whereby the focus is on the biopharmaceutical analysis, would be an advantage.
- Strong supervisory skills and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment.
- Provide the knowledge of keeping the development of development on site and pursuing professional certification programs. Ownership of industrial certification in relevant areas will be an additional advantage.
