Drive the future: Samsung C&T wins the largest solar project from Qatar.
  • Samsung C&T Engineering & Construction (E&C) Group has secured the largest solar power project by Qatar so far and marks the largest capacity solar project that has ever been carried out by a Korean construction company
  • The 2,000 MW system worth 1.46 trillion KRW is built on a 27㎢ location in Dukhan, equipped with 2.74 million panels and deliver electricity to 750,000 households by 2030

Samsung C&E & C signed EPC contract with Qatarenergy for the 2,000 -MW -Dukhan Solar Power Project

The Samsung C&T & C Group was awarded the contract for Qatar's largest solar power project, whereby the growing leadership in the infrastructure of renewable energies underlines. The 2000 MW Dukhan Solar Power Project commissioned by Qatarenergy is the largest solar system for capacities ever carried out by a Korean construction company.

The project has a value of engineering, procurement and building value (EPC) of 1.46 trillion KRW and is built in Dukhan, 80 kilometers west of Doha. The massive area above 27 ° C – corresponds to 3,790 soccer fields – is equipped with 2.74 million solar collectors. After completion in 2030, the system generates sufficient electricity to supply around 750,000 households, even if you take into account the high-head energy consumption of Qatar.

A signature ceremony took place with top managers from both companies, including the President and CEO of the SE-Chul OH and Saad al-Kaabi group, the Minister of State of Qatar for Energy Affairs and CEO from Qatarergy.

Structure on trust and innovation

Samsung C&E & C manages the project from design to construction work and implements state -of -the -art solutions to maximize efficiency. This includes solar tracking systems that follow the path of the sun to optimize electricity generation and advanced inverter, which should reliably cut off under the extreme desert climate.

The project is a cornerstone of “Qatar National Vision 2030”, the long -term plan of the country, to accelerate the energy transfer through adoption for renewable energies. After the announcement of the project in 2023, international tenders were carried out at the beginning of this year, whereby the group was ultimately selected due to its proven service and the optimal proposal.

This contract is based on the successful delivery of previous solar systems in Ras Laffan and Mesaieed by Samsung C&E & C Group, which together have a total of 875 MW capacity. With the new Dukhan work, the group will make up almost 80% of the total capacity of solar energy for solar energy, a significant achievement for the company's success balance in the region.

Expansion of global leadership into renewable energies

“With our long -term partnerships and our strong track record in Qatar, we strengthened our leadership in the EPC renewable energies,” said Seongjoon Kim, Executive Vice President of the ES Business Division from Samsung C&T.

The Samsung C&T & C Group is currently carrying out large solar projects in Qatar, but also in Guam, while they are actively expanding into global markets such as Australia and Japan. Beyond Solar also takes part in the development of BESS projects (better Energy Storage System) worldwide and positions itself as a global player in the area of renewable energies.
