Areas of application: living space on earth, bases in space
On Earth, Charlotte could help fix the real estate crisis by a quick, affordable and low structure. In space, the same technology could enable the construction of moon bases using local regolites. Thanks to its compact and foldable design, the robot is easy to transport and is well suited for distant or difficult -to -access areas. This opens up new possibilities not only for space missions, but also for disaster aid and reconstruction.
Not without competition
Charlotte faces hard international competition. US companies like Icon are already working with NASA on the moon building, while Ai Spacefactory 3D printer is developing for construction in space. With the focus on mobility and sustainable use of local materials, Charlotte wants to determine its own position.
Crest Robotics promotes an approach centered by humans. Instead of replacing existing jobs, the robot should create a new role – the “robotic operator”, who monitors the system, ensures quality and make important decisions. The project focuses heavily on safety, diversity and reduction in physical stress at the workplace.
