The Volta Regional Elections Taskforce has seized ballot paper materials for the region.
The materials, which include presidential and parliamentary ballots, arrived in the region around 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday and were monitored by security personnel from the regional command in Ho.
Election Commission officials and various political party representatives met on Wednesday morning to receive and review the materials.
Once satisfied, they would be stored in the police command's armory ahead of the December 2007 elections.
Briefing the parties ahead of the exercise, Mr. Kofi Dzakpasu, Regional Director of the European Commission, said that the two trucks contained a total of 186 bags of ballot papers for the presidential elections, while materials for the parliamentary elections were in a total of 70 bags, all equipped with seals of various types parties.
The bags would be grouped by constituency and two agents from each party would inspect the contents and reseal them for storage.
Mr Dzakpasu said details of the broadcast had been provided to each party as well as security agencies and election observers.
He said the package also included ballots for the special election and urged parties to review ballot statistics and the loading chart provided.
EC officials from the constituencies were present to monitor the process, which included checking the details on the ballot papers.
DCOP Andrews Boadu-Ekumah, Head of the Regional Elections Security Taskforce, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, commended various stakeholders and assured that the EC would conduct a trouble-free election.
