WINCHESTER — A high-end jeweler is preparing to open a new store in downtown Winchester.
Shepherdstown, West Virginia-based Christian Caine Design plans to open a full-service retail store in the former Wells Fargo building at 201 N. Loudoun St.
“It will be a beautiful design center,” said broker H. Paige Manuel of OakCrest Commercial Real Estate in Winchester, which is managing the building on behalf of owners Ron and Elizabeth McGehee. The Winchester couple purchased the property in September 2021 for $2 million after Wells Fargo closed its Old Town branch and vacated the building in May 2021.
Manuel said the jeweler will rent the entire first floor of the former bank building.
“They will be 4,000 square feet,” Manuel said. “It’s a pretty big center for jewelry design.”
Renovations on the first floor of the building that formerly housed the lobby of Wells Fargo's Old Town bank branch are expected to begin next month and last four months, Manuel said. If everything goes as planned, the new jewelry store will open sometime this summer.
According to its website, Christian Caine Design is an award-winning jewelry designer and manufacturer specializing in original and custom-made engagement and wedding rings, as well as unique necklaces, bracelets, earrings and candles. The company was founded in Shepherdstown in 1990 and has a European design studio in Nice, France.
Christian Caine already operates a small design center and retail store in the lobby of the George Washington Hotel in downtown Winchester. Manuel said the location is expected to remain open after the big store opens at 201 N. Loudoun St. this summer.
“It’s nice to see a new retailer coming downtown,” Manuel said.
