Accoya wood cladding can now be used in WUI designated areas

Accsys, the fast-growing company that enhances the natural properties of wood to create high-performance and sustainable building materials, has announced that ¾-inch and 1-inch tongue and groove (T&G) siding made from Accoya wood, available in an external wall installation, Wildland-Urban meet interface requirements.

Accoya wood T&G cladding was independently tested in a specific wall assembly and met the wall or ceiling surface criteria per ASTM E2707, which evaluates fire penetration of exterior wall assemblies using 10-minute direct flame exposure. The exterior wall assembly can be used for new buildings in WUI areas or any fire hazard zone within government jurisdictions.

“The exterior wall assembly’s WUI compliance underscores Accoya’s commitment to performance, sustainability and environmental stewardship, particularly in fire-prone areas,” said Sergio Munhoz, North America sales manager for Accsys. “This success reinforces our commitment to providing our customers with reliable and innovative solutions for fire-resistant construction.”

Accoya gives wood unparalleled reliability with a 50-year guarantee for above-ground products and a 25-year guarantee for underground products and freshwater. It is made from fast-growing and renewable FSC certified sources (C012330) and is one of the few building products to be Cradle to Cradle Gold certified. It does not shrink, swell or warp visibly, making it ideal for use in windows, doors, decking and cladding.
