Is it too much to ask these days to show a little love to the big blockbuster franchises? Acolyte star Manny Jacinto thinks so, which makes it all the more frustrating that we'll never see a side of his character Qibir in the canceled Star Wars prequel series.
When speaking to TV Insider about his time on the show, Jacinto expressed his admiration for The Acolyte, who dared to bring a little potential passion into the mix for a change. “I feel like a lot of the franchises we have right now are missing romance,” Jacinto explained. “There's a lot of love and relationships missing. We have the big fight scenes and the origin stories of these heroes and so on, but they don't really have relationships with other people. It's such a weird thing.”
“And that's why I loved the relationship between Qimir and Osha, because we brought it back to a relationship in this big world,” Jacinto explained. “I think we just need more of that. I think this made the characters and the story more compelling rather than just having big fight sequences, which I really liked.”
“I'm always ready, and if they had me, I would like to take it back,” admitted Jacinto. “It was a once-in-a-lifetime role and I’m incredibly proud of what we did in The Acolyte and with Oshamir and that whole relationship.” Obviously the power has not disappeared.
