The ADNOC Gas PLC announced on Tuesday that it approved phase one of the RIG gas development projects (RGD) in the United Arab Emirates and had assigned contracts worth 5 billion US dollars.
“The contracts include the expansion of the most important processing units to increase throughput and to improve operational efficiency in four ADNOC gas systems: Asab, Buhasa, Habshan (Onshore) and the liquid system from the Iceland (offshore),” said the gas processing of Abu Dhabi, and the sales branch of Abu Dhabi.
“The company intends to take Fids [final investment decisions] In two additional phases of the RGD project in Habshan and Ruwais to provide the provision of a higher production capacity for the fulfillment of the growing market requirements.
“The RGD project will enable the development of new gas reservoir to be decisive to increase liquid gas exports, to support gas self-supply in the United Arab Emirates and to provide a significant outcome in the growing petrochemical industry in the country”.
The ADNOC gas sales volume increased two percent to 3,616 million MMBTU last year. According to companies, it covers around 60 percent of the VAE sales gas requirements and over twenty countries.
The RGD phase -1 orders were awarded in three tranches. The majority of $ 2.8 billion went to the John Wood Group PLC for Habshan, based in Scotland, a gas processing complex of five plants with a capacity of 6.1 billion standard cubic foot up to 14 trains.
“Wood's area includes the delivery of considerable upgrades and debotlenecking solutions to the existing Mega complexes and pipelines of Habshan and Habshan 5, including Brownfield modifications and the installation of new facilities,” said the contractor in a press release.
“The project is delivered by more than 500 specialists for wood technology, project management and commissioning in Abu Dhabi with the support of the global engineering centers of the company,” added Wood. Completion is expected in 2027.
Petrofac Ltd. In Jersey, a contract for $ 1.2 billion has concluded for the Iceland's fluid system, which currently has a capacity of six million tons per year.
“Petrofac will deliver EPCM [engineering, procurement and construction management] Services and monitoring of procurement and construction contracts for the construction of a new inlet system, two new gas dehydration and compression features, each with a capacity of 420 million standard cubic feet per day and the associated infrastructure, ”said Petrofac.
A third tranche described $ 1.1 billion for Kent PLC in Dubai for the ASAB and BUHASA parts of the RGD project, said ADNOC gas.
“The FID and contract prices for the first phase of the Rich Gas Development Project mark a significant milestone in the ADNOC gas strategy to deliver +40 percent EBITDA [earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization] Growth between 2023 and 2029, ”said Adnoc Gas Chief Executive Fatema al Nuaimi.
