Axa XL launched the Affortion Maturity Index (Sami) for sustainable building practices, a benchmarking service with which construction customers in North America are to evaluate their sustainable building practices against colleagues in the industry.
Cheri Hanes, head of the innovation and sustainability of AXA XL, said: “Technological progress, economic incentives and the need for more resilience drive the demand for more sustainable buildings, and our construction customers are looking for the best ways to meet these requirements.
“Benchmarking is an important instrument for contractors because you can compare your performance, practices and results with the industry standards and best practice. This helps you to remain competitive, improve efficiency and ultimately improve your overall performance in the industry. “
Hanes added: “In your search for more sustainable construction practices, our Sami benchmarking can offer valuable knowledge to help our construction customers identifying areas of improvement, setting realistic goals and measuring their progress over time.
“Due to available services such as Sami, we strive to support the knowledge of our customers and the takeover of sustainable building practices.”
The Sami assessment evaluates the construction companies based on their implementation of sustainable construction practices and focuses on areas within the builders, including carbon, health and wellness, waste management, water management and materials.
According to the assessment, companies receive a personalized report with a total value of the Sami score and the individual category. The report compares the introduction of the sustainable building practices of a contractor against industry trends and a selected group of colleagues.
Every year Sami offers a roadmap for the further development of sustainable practices and pursues progress over time to help customers remain at the top of the sustainability of the construction work.
