Bacolod City -Infrastructure projects of the Bacolod city government will shortly search QR codes (Quick Response) with the residents to access detailed information on ongoing work, said Mayor Greg Gasataya on Friday, August 29.
The initiative, which is anchored in Executive Order No. 39, requires the placement of QR codes in all projects in the city government and provides for a system to monitor the online progress that aims to ensure transparency, accountability and good government.
“With a single scan of a QR code, every Bacolodnon can see what is built, how much it costs, whoever does the work – both the contractor and the project engineer – and when it will be done,” said Mayor Gasataya.
The platform will also enable citizens to submit complaints, concerns and feedback on urban projects in order to react faster to problems.
Mayor Gasataya emphasized that public projects are financed by the hard -earned taxes of people and must therefore be open to the exam.
“Transparency is not a favor for the public. It is a fault that we owe to every Bacolodnon that works hard to contribute to the construction of our city,” he emphasized.
Management Information Technology and Computer Services (MITCS) was instructed to implement the system within two weeks.
The city is currently carrying out several major projects that are financed by the Philippines development bank as part of a loan package of 4.4 billion peseters. This includes the construction and improvement of the old town house and the city health complex, a new legislative building, recovery and a recycling complex and an ecopark.
“This is finally modeling our city the future of open governance – commitment to transparency through measures, transparency without compromise and became comfortable in the palms of our hands,” said Mayor Gasataya.Pn
