The California Labor Commissioner's Office has issued its new model whistleblower notice, “Whistleblowers Are Protected,” for employers to use beginning January 1, 2025. This explains who is protected by law; What is whistleblowing? What protection is afforded to a whistleblower? and how to file a report with the California Attorney General's Whistleblower Hotline. Employers can find a copy to display here.
As a reminder, California law prohibits employers from establishing, adopting, or enforcing policies that prevent an employee from disclosing violations of any law or regulation to, among other things, a government or law enforcement agency. The law also prohibits employers from retaliating against an employee who makes such a disclosure.
