Sustainable Chaffee is organizing the first event “Green Week”
The Green Week 2025 will be a free series of community events, including tours, workshops and discussions about sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency at home, recycling of electronic waste, willingness to take electricity vehicles and much more.
Sustainable Chaffee is a new regional effort from Chaffee County, the city of Salida, the city of Buena Vista, the city of Poncha Springs and Garna. It focuses on reducing the climate effects through energy, waste and transport initiatives here in Chaffee County.
The Green Week agenda extends from September 27th to Friday, October 3:
Saturday, September 27th
- BV E-WASTE Event – 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Location – BV public work (755 Gregg Dr. Buena Vista)

- Host of the city of BV and Garna. The event mainly offers free e-wades recycling with the exception of televisions and CRT monitors that cost $ 30. Cash only.
- Salida Green Homes Tour – 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

- Tour will present Sustainable construction design, solar arrangements, heat pumps and hemp building in local houses.
- New Energy Colorado (NEC) and Ark Valley Energy Future (AVEF) will have a stand on the Salida Farmer's Market in Alpine Park More information.
Sunday, September 28th
- Green drinks – 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Elevation Beer Co. in Poncha Springs

- Participants can expect to learn from local installers and homeowners via cold climate heat pumps.

- The event is free of charge for the public. The support is promoted by the purchase of food and drinks.
Tuesday, September 30th
- Green drinks – 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Liberty Hall in departure

- Topic: Electric vehicles 101

- Drive Clean Colorado presents a workshop on electric vehicle bases with information on fees, discounts and much more.
Wednesday, October 1st
- Green drinks – 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Strange Craft Beer Company In Denver

- Topic: Electric vehicles 101

- Drive Clean Colorado presents a workshop on electric vehicle bases with information on fees, discounts and much more.
- Business Coffee Hour – 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the town hall of Poncha Springs

- Workshop by Drive Clean Colorado and the Chaffee County Economic Development Corporation focused on fleet transitions and the charges at the workplace, with information available on financial resources and tax credits.

- Presentations at 8:00 a.m. and again at 9:00 a.m., followed by questions and answers.

- Free coffee and snacks will be available
Friday, October 3rd
- Recycle Colorado Conference – 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Salida Steamplant

- Recycle Colorado is the leading organization of the State for Recycling Policy and Education

- This event includes a facility tour through Elements Mountain Compost and a happy hour on the high side! Bar & grill
