Closing the Job Corps Center will immediately get concern about future access to OSHA security training

A gradual break on the state-funded Job Corps website raises questions about how the entry class employees are accessible in high-risk industry.

The US Ministry of Labor announced that it will initiate a gradual break of operations in certain working corps centers for the contractor, the part of more comprehensive efforts to assess and modernize the program structure and performance of the program.

The decision follows an internal review and is carried out in accordance with the available funds, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WioA) and the necessary notifications of the congress. While the department has not stated which centers will be affected, the officials stated that the phaseed approach will enable an orderly transition.

Job Corps, a state-financed residential and vocational training program for young adults, serves over 50,000 students in the United States every year. Many of his centers are operated by private contractors as part of the supervision of the Ministry of Labor.

“The modernization and strengthening of the Job Corps program is of essential importance to ensure that the students receive the highest training, education and support,” said the department in a statement. “This process will position the program for long -term success and sustainability.”

The department emphasized that their upper priorities include the protection of the students to form the education, maintaining transparency with employees and contractors as well as continued coordination with local communities and stakeholders.

Further updates from the affected centers and the transitional time bar are expected in the coming months.
