Community-focused nature conservation designs: Community-focused nature reserve
From Atelier Architecture & Design, a company that aims to transform a former industrial brownfield location into a well-oriented nature reserve on community-oriented nature reserve, a comprehensive renovation proposal for Pilshsworth Lake in South Lancashire was presented. The project tries to harmonize the historical importance of the area as an industrial water source for cotton mills with contemporary ecological restoration and recreational needs from the 19th century.

The most important components of the nature conservation area organized by Atelier Architecture & Design are the introduction of hiking trails, observation platforms, natural skins, educational areas outdoors and performance areas that are intended to facilitate the commitment of the community with the landscape. The architectural elements consisting of a café, a visitor center, a shop and a boathouse-like carbon-poor materials and contain sustainable water management systems such as rain gardens to manage the drain and improve biological diversity.

The design strategy of Atelier Architecture & Design is expressly aimed at a measurable increase in local biodiversity by over ten percent by reintroduction of local species and habitat regeneration.
