Chiyoda announced the Saibu Gas Treaty on Friday to improve the capacity of her Hibiki -LNG system.
Saibu Gas adds an additional LNG tank to the two that are currently in operation, which has completed the first half of the 2029 financial year.
According to Chiyoda, a groundbreaking ceremony for the project took place on July 18.
Chiyoda did not provide any further details about the contract.
In November last year, the Japanese city gas supplier Saibu Gas made a final investment decision to add the third LNG bearing tank and the associated facilities in Hibiki.
In addition to a 230,000 cbm LNG tank, the expansion includes other facilities such as an LNG vaporizer, moor compressors and loading facilities for LNG tanks.
The project is worth 50 billion yen (338 million US dollars).
At the beginning of this year, Japan Jera signed a contract with Saibu Gas to use the third Hibiki LNG bearing tank.
Based on the agreement, Jera can use the third LNG tank, which “can improve its ability to take into account the growing volatility in balance between power supply, which is caused by the extensive introduction of renewable energies and seasonal differences in electricity needs”.
The 2.4 -MTPA -Hibiki -Lng -LNG terminal, which was launched in 2014, currently has two 180,000 CBM -LNG tanks, a large LNG -Steg and a small LPG -Steg, five LNG evaporators, 12 truck loading systems and four LPG tanks each with a capacity of 950 tons.
Saibu Gas has 90 percent of the system, while Kyushu Electric holds 10 percent with the country supplier.
The partners decided in 2021 to build a power plant with LNG power plant at the Hibiki terminal.
