Islamabad – The Bundeskabinett has approved the green building code in Pakistan and the provisions for rainwater use for the construction code of Pakistan in a pioneering step to secure the environment and climate of the country.
The new national building standards will guarantee green, energy -efficient and water -enhancing buildings, said an official press release.
The vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for environmental protection, cleaner air for citizens and energy efficiency is the main force for this wonderful development, which corresponds to the sustainable development goals of the United Nations (SDGS).
Minister Mr. Khalid Hussain Magsi and Ministry of Science and Technology, Secretary Sajid Baloch, directed the development of these codes under the vision of the prime minister through extensive consultations with provinces, federal ministries and other relevant stakeholders and developed consensus.
Where does it apply?
The green building code applies to all new buildings with four plus floors, with energy saving, solar design, green roofs, energy -efficient lighting and integration of renewable energy sources, etc. are highlighted.
What does it say?
It prescribes the use of environmentally friendly materials and building information modeling (BIM) for efficient construction management, which significantly reduces energy consumption and the environmental quality is improved indoors.
Rainwater use code
The rainwater harvest code applies to residential buildings, commercial and industrial buildings and commissiones systems to collect, filter and reuse rainwater.
This initiative aims to deal with the escalating water shortage in Pakistan by promoting the groundwater charging and reducing the dependence on the municipal water supply.
The codes were approved as Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) -Laws and agreed with the SDGS (Sustainable Development Tariff) of the United Nations.
These codes mark a crucial step towards sustainable, climate -specific infrastructure measures will be of great importance for a greener, more energy -efficient and more air -conditioned Pakistan, which improves the better quality of life for Pakistani citizens and the planet.
