The construction of a new art and cinema art building at George Fox University is about to be completed, and his start is expected to initiate a new era of creativity and collaboration at the Newberg School.

The new facility offers students reported in Studio Arts and Arts Administration, Grafic Design, Illustration and Cinematic Arts with a focus on 12,000 square meters in the areas of art and art administration.

It includes state-of-the-art ceramic and sculpture studios, gallery space, video editing laboratories, audio recording studios, a 66-seat theater, a sound stage, a ceramic garden in the open and classroom, which contain some of the latest industry-related devices.

The building replaces two more that were destroyed this summer

The building replaces Brougher Hall and North Street Annex – both this summer after they had housed the art and design majors for decades. The new building offers more than double sculpture room, 60% more ceramic room and about three times the current cinema space.

As far as the equipment is concerned, the additions to the Mia Cinema robot's cinema art program, which enables complex and precise camera work.

The device worth $ 125,000 was donated to the university by the Utah's production company Mystery Box and marks George Fox as one of the few colleges in the country that own you.

For art of Major with a passion for ceramics, a new gas base will decorate the room. Since ceramics and sculpture operation are now under the same roof, pieces between the buildings no longer have to be transported back and forth. In addition to the obvious advantages of more space and improved technical amenities, the establishment enables more cooperation between Majors.

“We already have engineers Majors and others who use our space to explore the more artistic side of their brain,” said Chandler Brutscher, chairman of the Department of Art and Design. “This will only deepen this collaboration, both because we can offer more in terms of work space and equipment and because of our proximity to the hub for the engineering manufacturer, in which many of our art students create.”

In addition, developed to attract students

The addition is also intended to improve the academic reputation of the university and attract highly qualified, artistically minded students.

In the school's three art -related disciplines, there are more than 70 majors and 60 minors, while the Cinematic Arts Major has grown by 25% in the past four years and has received national recognition from the Awards Association Association Association, the largest media art association.

As Brutscher sees it, the facility will open “a wealth of possibilities”.

“This will not only help to draw more students in George Fox, but also this cooperation and the exchange of ideas that are so important for the artistic process,” she said. “And there will be space for artistic and industrial application. This took a long time and we are very happy about our students that they will now have this beautiful room to pursue their creativity.”
