Doosan Energy, previously known as Doosan Heavy Industries, said on Monday that the contract has a value of 560 billion US dollars ($ 404 million).
Part of the second phase of the Dangjin LNG terminal, the LNG tanks 5 -7 each have a capacity of 270,000 cbm.
In addition, Doosan Energy said that the construction is expected to begin in September 2025 while the work is planned for December 2029.
This contract in the second phase will be responsible for the construction of a total of seven Dangjin -LNG bearing tanks.
As early as 2021, the company and its local partner Kuil Construction were selected as a contractor for the first phase (tanks 1-4) of the LNG terminal and are currently carrying out the construction work.
In August 2024, Kogas and Doosan drive power completed the roofs on all four 270,000 cbm tanks in the LNG import system in the western port city of Dangjin.
Kogas currently operates 77 LNG bearing tanks for five LNG import terminals in South Korea.
The big terminals include Incheon, Pyongtaek, Tongyeong and Samcheok, while the company also has a small regasia terminal at the Aewol port on Jeju Island.
Kogas sold 18.89 million MT in the first half of this year, compared to the same period of the previous year by 3.7 percent.
Turnover with the company's city gas sales increased by 5 percent, since the demand for civil use increased due to a strong temperature drop in February and April compared to previous years.
The company also said that the demand for industrial and fuel cell consumption led to a higher sales volume.
According to Kogas, the purchase of electricity supply companies increased by 2.1 percent, as electricity generation increased after the start of the commercial operation of new electricity units.
