Sacramento – Today Governor Gavin Newsom has published a proclamation in which April 28, 2025 recognized as a workers' commemorative day in California. The proclamation calls on all Californians to remember those who have lost their lives or who have suffered serious injuries or illnesses in the course of their work, and to recommend the vital mission to ensure safe and healthy jobs for everyone.

The workers' commemoration day celebrates the anniversary of the federal law on the security and health of the federal government and serves as a strong memory to ensure that injuries and deaths can be avoided at work.

California continues to lead the nation in the security of employees through the work of Cal/Osha, who enforced health and security laws and work with employers and employees to prevent injuries, illnesses and deaths.

About Cal/Osha

Cal/Osha helps workers before working in health and security at working in almost every workplace in California. Cal/Osha is a department of the California Ministry of Industrial Education.

The employees in California are protected independently of immigration status. Workers who have questions about security and health at work can call between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday at 833-579-0927 to speak to a bilingual live representative of Cal/Osha. Complaints about security and health risks in the workplace can be submitted confidentially in CAL/OSHA district office.

Employers who have questions or need support for health and security programs at the workplace can call the CAL/OSHA industry at 800-963-9424.
