Graystar appoints McAleer & Rush to deliver an 836-bed student rest program in Birmingham

Greystar, a leading global provider of rental apartments, has appointed the leading design and construction company McAleer & Rush to build a new development by PBSA (836 beds) in Selly Oak, Birmingham.

The program is delivered on behalf of Student Roost, one of the largest students in the UK student accommodation. The construction is now underway with the 90 million pound project, which, in addition to amenities that benefit the wider community, the urgently needed new houses for students.

The development is located on the grounds of a former supermarket of a former Sainsbury and will regenerate a long-lasting Brownfield property into a lively program of guided programs in the residential buildings. There will be 472 studios and 364 cluster bedrooms in two buildings and 26,000 m² of commercial space, including a community Medical Center, 31 parking spaces and new public areas.

The project supports the strategy of the student Roost to expand in cities in the university's weddings. Birmingham is one of the most underpinned student apartment markets in Great Britain. This program is part of a wider plan to deliver high -quality, professionally managed houses in places where they are most urgently needed.

The appointment of McAleer & Rush follows a successful collaboration with Greystar to other British projects, including the delivery of Canvas Wembley, which will open before the academic year 2025/26.

The new development of Selly Oak will include over 13,000 square foot locations, including investigation areas, lounges, a gym and a cinema. It aims at Bream “very good” and EPC -A reviews, using sustainability measures such as a green roof, solar collectors and the use of sustainable building materials.
