A swimming pool, two Sky terraces, a around the clock in the gym and even a restaurant on the roof – the latest skyscraper in Tanjong Pagar is more in mind than working.
Completed at the beginning of this year,
Keppel South Central
is a 33-story development that combines 650,000 m² of office, retail and event rooms, all of which are equipped with the next generation technology and air-conditioned systems.
For example, intelligent lighting, solar collectors and energy-efficient cooling systems help to reduce the CO2 footprint.
Each floor is also 5G-capable and offers tenants a high-speed connectivity, while artificial intelligence (AI) support functions such as access to facial recognition, more intelligent safety and the construction of building.
It is this combination of design, innovation and sustainability that Keppel South Central received the project of the year of the building and building authority (BCA) in 2025 – recognition of developments that cross borders for construction and design.

The Smart, Green features of Keppel South Central, have attracted global tenants such as Manulife Financial Advisers, the competition and the Singapore and Gurin Energy Commission.

Obayashi Singapore
was appointed the main contractor.
According to Albert Foo, managing director for real estate development and operation (Singapore) in the real estate department of Keppel: “Keppel South Central illustrates the commitment of Keppel to develop thoughtful, future jobs. An ai-enabled structure integrates the structure of AI-capable, it integrates the extended digital infrastructure and sustainable draft development, for the current draft support.

Keppel South Central achieved ticks in four metrics, namely health and well -being, resilience, intelligence and maintenance. The certification of BCA Green Mark Platinum (Super Low Energy) has also met.
It is also internationally recognized, with WIREDSCORE platinum and smart score platinum certificates for its digital connectivity and smart building functions as well as a good prerequisite for prioritization of health and well-being of the occupants.
The building contains a number of sustainability features to reduce energy consumption. This includes solar collectors, intelligent lighting and the canalization of remaining cool air from offices to the ground in order to achieve a more comfortable “cooled floor” effect for visitors.
There are also highly efficient cold and a microconated air conditioning, with which tenants can only cool down certain areas instead of entire floors.
“This not only offers greater flexibility, but also promotes energy efficiency and cost savings and is in line with the developing expectations of modern workforce, which prioritize both sustainability and comfort,” says Foo.
In total, these systems save about 6.2 million kWh of energy per year, approximately the amount used by 1,300 households.
The intelligent and green functions are a big draw for global companies in industries that are looking for future jobs. The committed tenants include Manulife Financial Advisers PTE LTD, the competition and the consumer commission of Singapore and Gurin Energy.
Retail and wellness operators have also registered for lease contracts in the building, including F&B outlets such as the public Izakaya Nitengo and Hachi, 22 grams, luli tea and fun toast and fitness.
In addition to the high-tech and eco features, the outside of the building is also remarkable.
Instead of a typical rectangular block, all sides of Keppel South Central of Stahl -External Price and turn out to form a characteristic silhouette.
On the east side, the flowing “veil” turns dramatically into a canopy at the ground level, creating the shaded public square.
The steel grinder rocks have a spiral application that does not remind of hard metal, but of soft, flowing fabric. In addition to the unique aesthetics, the facade is also designed in such a way that they reduce the sun warming gain in the building.
For the building contractor Obayashi Singapore – the company behind architectural icons such as Juwel Changi Airport and Duo – the construction of the skyscraper was a new technical challenge.
After all, steel is known for its strength – not for its sculptural properties.

The engineers designed the facade of the building with a lighter steel composite skeleton that reduced the weight of the building and enabled a faster building.

The director and senior general manager of the company, Mr. Patrick Chia, explains: “The canopy pillar had to be up to 60 mm thick. If you twist so large steel elements, it is unusual and unconventional.”
With his trustworthy contractors, Obayashi Singapore was able to adapt the pillars and develop a careful assembly process to ensure that the complex structure could be secured safely and precisely.
Obayashi Singapore also used time -saving solutions, including drones for faster inspections and a custom -made robot that contributed to maintaining a clean and safe location for employees.
It has tested innovative tools to pursue carbon emissions and undertook steps to reduce construction waste – everything underlines the company's commitment to sustainability.
“This project asked us to think differently and build smarter,” says Patrick Chia. “We are proud to form another legendary part of the Skyline Singapore.”
The two companies previously worked on two other prominent office buildings, a raffle Quay and Ocean Financial Center, both of whom have received international recognition for their design and building accuracy.

Two lush, naturally inspired skyter breeds offer green sanctuaries high above the city for work breaks and informal meetings.

A raffle quay was awarded the renowned Fiabci Prix d'Ecclecy Award, while Ocean Financial Center is the first high-rise development in Southeast Asia that achieves the US leadership in terms of energy and environmental design platinum. It also received the BCA Green Mark Platinum Super Low Energy Certification in 2025.
It is therefore no surprise that Keppel repeated his collaboration with Obayashi for the third time.
Mr Foo explains: “Over the years we have built up a strong and collaborative partnership with Obayashi, which is based on mutual trust and a common commitment to excellence.
“Our projects were successful because we focus on the most important priorities: security, quality and a customer -oriented way of thinking. Obayashi's consistent professionalism, technical expertise and proactive approach to problem solving also contributed to the smooth project execution and strengthened the strength of our partnership.”
