May 20, 2025 – Nairobi, Kenya: The inter-state authority for development (IGAD) has launched a four-day capacity structure in class design in order to strengthen the ability of its employees to create effective e-learning content to support regional knowledge exchange and institutional development.
Kept in jibuti and from the GIZ-Funded Scida III project (supported“Strengthening IGAD's ability to increase resistance in the Horn Africa”), The training brings together the IGAD community of practice, which includes employees of all IGAD departments and specialized institutions. The initiative is part of the ongoing efforts of IGAD to institutionalize digital learning as a core component of training and development policy as well as the strategy for knowledge management.
The training is intended to build up the technical skills required to design and manage integrative, interactive and effective digital learning experiences using standard tools, including Adobe Captivity.
At the opening meeting, Ali Mohamed, Igad E-Learning Project coordinator, participants welcomed them and asked them to approach training with purpose and commitment.
“In the next few days we will combine the essential theory with practical exercises and provide you with the tools and skills to improve your course development functions. At the end of this training, you will be able to create appealing and accessible digital learning experiences.” he said.
Herr Eleyeh I. Therefore, coordinator for knowledge management at the GIZ Djibouti Scida III project, confirmed GIZ's partnership with the IGAD in promoting digital transformation in the entire region.
“GIZ is honored to support IGAD in this initiative, which is significantly involved in the expansion of access to training and standardization of learning processes in the entire secretariat and the Member States.” He noticed.
This training corresponds to the regional strategy and implementation plan of IGAD (2021–2025), which recognizes continuous professional development as a strategic enabling for institutional effectiveness. Through this initiative, IGAD invests in a future worker who is adaptive, qualified and willing to develop on the development of regional priorities.
The IGAD-E-LEARNING platform, which is controlled by the Community of Practice, will serve as a central hub for digital training in the IGAD programs and build up sustainable exchange of knowledge and the structure of long-term institutional capacity.
