Iraq builds 400km concrete wall along Syrian border – Middle East Monitor

Iraq has completed the construction of a 400-kilometer concrete wall along its border with Syria, which is 615 kilometers long, the head of the country's security media cell, Tahsin Al-Khafaji, said yesterday.

Speaking to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Khafaji explained that the interior and defense ministries, together with the Joint Operations Command and the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), have taken strict measures to secure the border with Syria over the past three years.

He added that work is currently underway to complete the wall along the 615-kilometer border. So far, 400 kilometers have been completed, the remaining 210 to 215 kilometers are expected to be completed by mid-year and all security gaps along the border will be closed.
