Kajima secures founding agreement for 315 MW Oga Katagami Akita offshore wind project
The contract marks the start of full construction of the Japanese wind farm, which is scheduled to become operational in 2028.
Developer Oga Katagami Akita Offshore Green Energy LLC has awarded Kajima Corporation a full-service contract for the manufacture, procurement, transportation and installation of turbine foundations for its 315 MW offshore wind project in Japan.
The award marks an important transition to full construction of the project, located off the coast of Akita Prefecture. Kajima was selected for its technical expertise and extensive experience in capital ship construction, with the developer placing an emphasis on safety, quality and environmental management.
Commercial operations are scheduled to begin in June 2028.
The announcement follows a recent long-term time charter agreement between the developer and NYK for a Japanese-built crew transfer vessel that will support the operations of all of Japan's early offshore wind projects.
