Kongsberg Maritime delivers DC Electric System for Offshore Newfoundland support ship

On April 2, Kongsberg Maritime said that it will provide equipment for a new offshore support ship, which was ordered by DOF.

The 110 m-Lange ship, which places 164 people, was designed by MMC Ship Design and is located in the Crist Shipyard in Gdynia, Poland. Offshore Newfoundland and Labrador will operate.

The package of Kongsberg Maritime includes the DC Hauptgartafel, the battery hybrid system, the main electricity generator, the engine induction engine and the distribution transformer.

According to the company, the DC Electric System can offer improved energy efficiency, reduced space and weight, improved performance quality and a better dynamic reaction compared to conventional alternating current systems.

The Battery hybrid drive system comprises two 1 MWH battery. The company adds these characteristics together compared to other fuel savings of up to 35%.

In addition, DOF Kongsberg Maritime Technology has ordered its offshore processes for navigation, automation and control systems as well as the company's K-POS DP system.
