Oakland – The Californian Commission for Health and Security and Employee Compensation (CHSWC) is pleased to announce the reinstatement of the Commissioner Mitch Steiger. On March 12, 2025, Commissioner Steiger was again called the Senate rules and his term of office runs until December 2028.


Commissioner Steiger was also unanimously re -elected as chairman of the Commission for 2025. The election took place on February 28, 2025 public CHSWC meeting.


Steiger is a legislative representative of the California Federation of Teachers (CFT). The CFT is a union of educators and classified experts associated with the 1.7 million members of the American Federation of Teachers. Steiger has been with the Californian Teachers' Association since 2023. Since 2010 he worked as a lawyer for the Californian Labor Federation in AFL-CIO. The Californian Arbeitsverband represents over 2.1 million employees nationwide and fights against the defense and improvement of wages, advantages and working conditions of the Californian. He is also a member of the Pacific Media Workers Guild, Local 39521, Communication Workers of America (CWA).


A total of eight (8) commissioners are appointed by the governor and the legislator. The Labor Code 75 notes that two of the employers and that two of the commission's working members appoint the governor to sub -sites four (4) members. The Senate Committee for Rules and the Spokesman for the Assembly each appoint an employer and a labor representative for an underground of four (4) members. CHSWC, which was created by the reform of the 1993 employee compensation reform, is commissioned to investigate the health and employee allowance systems in California and the recommendation of administrative or legislative changes to improve your company. CHSWC was founded to carry out a continuous examination of the employee compensation system and the activities of the state to prevent industrial injuries and occupational diseases and to examine these programs in other countries.
