The US military construction in Guam continues with several different projects, and the navals stated that they expect to award contracts for at least two considerable work during the course of this year.
In the latest workload projections that were updated on March 31, Naval Facilities Engineering Systems (NAVFAC) Pacific expects a building application for a Guam Defense Radar System Command Center as well as an associated power generation plant, the fuel storage and another infrastructure. The value of the contract is between $ 250 million and 500 million US dollars.
According to the procurement documents, the construction of the facility must meet the seismic requirements. The contract is also planned to record the demolition of existing residential units, the preparations of local citizens and other associated work. The project is expected to take about three years and seven months.
ADM. Samuel Paparo, commander of the US Indo-Pacific command, called Guam Defense System “A cornerstone of regional deterrence and a critical component of us [integrated air and missile defense] Strategy “to testify during the Senate's Senate Committee at the beginning of this month.
Navfac Pacific is also planning to award a contract for the construction of a joint group communication center on the Andersen Air Force Base this year. The value is also estimated between $ 250 million and 500 million US dollars. The project would consolidate various functions in a two -story, reinforced concrete structure.
Work in
Other work is already underway in various US defense facilities in Guam. The US Marine Corps officially reactivated the Base Camp Blaz in 2023. The work of the basic facilities is supervised by the officials for the construction, a temporary command under navfac. The OICC manages 19 different contractors who work on various projects at the base.
The work recently started a project with $ 571 million to repair the glass ram water. The 3 miles long structure confiscated the Apra port, but was damaged by a typhoon in 2023. Both Guam Guam and the port of Guam are located on the harbor.
According to the NAVFAC officer, the quick coordination and early commitment of the contractors made it possible to work in advance.
“We focus on stabilizing the structure, ensuring safe operation and maintaining the project by disciplined supervision and construction,” said captain Troy Brown, commander of Navfac Marianas, in a statement.
The project's contractor is TPC-NAN JV, a joint venture by Tutor Perini Corp., and Nan Inc. Tutor Perini said his local subsidiary Black Construction Corp. performs its share in the work. The work was awarded as part of an IdiQ contract (IdiQ) for the Navy product optimization program.
In the first level of work, large stones with a weight between 10 and 15 tons are moved from the wave breaker to the most damaged sections in order to form a densely packed temporary barrier. In later work, interlinking concrete is set up, each weighing about 42 tons.
The completion of the Glass Breastwater Project is planned for 2029.
