A large renovation of the depot building in Fields Park in Myatt in Lambeth is to be approved and promises to provide a new community center with institutions for events, training courses and companies.
The project of 826,000 GBP is headed by the Ammcass Construction Engineering Group and is scheduled to begin in June 2025. Completion is expected until April 2026.
The initiative, which was supported by the Lambeth Council and developed in cooperation with the Fields Park Project (MFPP) of the local group of community Myatt, will replace outdated depot buildings.
The plans include a hall with 30 seats with a kitchen, a community foyer and office space for parking management. The updated website will be available for setting and support gardening and cooking programs.
The project came from a base campaign led by local women looking for improved facilities in the park. Since 2015, MFPP has been playing a central role in the administration of the park as part of Lambeth's Pioneer Park program, organized events and facilitating training and companies.
The new center is expected to increase MFPP's ability to generate income, deliver services and to support the community's long -term development.
After a competitive procurement process, Ammcass was selected as a contractor after being achieved at the highest point for combined quality and price criteria.
The company undertook to create a social value through local employment, ecological sustainability and financial support for volunteers.
Ammcass plans to offer up to five vacancies during the construction and donates 5,000 GBP to local community initiatives.
As part of the 2030 district of Lambeth and its commitment to combating carbon neutral, the project will have improved insulation, new energy-efficient roofs and windows and a strong focus on reducing emissions and waste.
Plastic of individual use are minimized and building materials are selected for their recyclability and low environmental influences.
Lambeth Council confirmed that the financing of the work comes from an existing capital budget and that sufficient funds were provided to cover the full costs.
The building is not only provided with practical infrastructure, but not only supports cheap activities, youth training and a variety of initiatives led by the community.
The contract is to be carried out later this month after a standard call time. The construction is scheduled to begin in June.
