A brand new library opened its doors to Milwaukee on September 6th. Martin Luther King Jr.'s branch had a large opening on Saturday, which included music, food and family -friendly entertainment outside the building. Knowledge is power and this new branch has everything that is necessary to enable its users. I encourage and welcome everyone to use their latest library well and to help the MPL team to exploit them and their complete potential.” The Martin Luther King Jr. branch was built on the location, which was based on the structure. The tax incremental district program, the American Rescue Plan Act and the support of the Milwaukee Public Library Foundation. “For more than half a century, the branch Martin Luther King was an anchor in the Harambee district, a place for learning, growth and entertainment,” said the Mayor of Milwaukee, Cavalier Johnson. “The new house of the library continues this great tradition with even more. It is a wonderful addition that is loved by library customers and employees.”

The Milwaukee Public Library said it was the third largest branch in the system with 18,000 square meters.
The new design emphasizes the commitment of the community, creativity and sustainability of ecological sustainability.

Green buildings such as solar collectors, geothermal heating, cooling and infrastructure for future charging stations for electrical vehicles are also included.

Martin Luther King Jr. -Zweig was built at the location of his predecessor, which was closed in May 2023 to prepare for the construction.
The new building was made possible by a combination of funds from the tax -incremental district program of the city of Milwaukee, the American Rescue Plan Act and the support of the Milwaukee Public Library Foundation.
