Muscat: With a project investment of over 188 million OMR for the production of batteries, the shift towards cleaner energy sources will receive a large thrust.
Oman will help Oman to reach net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and to significantly increase the proportion of electricity in renewable sources. and improvement in energy efficiency.
The investment is implemented in phases for four to six years. The first phase alone is estimated over 73 million OMR.
The project covers an area of ​​approximately 370,000 square meters and focuses on the production of lithium iron phosphate (LFP CAM), ammonium phosphate, iron salts and carbon materials that are used in battery applications for electric vehicles, energy storage and modern electronic technologies.
The system is expected to stage the production of up to 100 gigawatt hours of batteries and both the electric vehicle industry and the energy storage solutions.
The public authority for special economic zones and free zones (Opaz), together with the Salalah -Freistezone, celebrated the signing of an agreement for a project with advanced battery chemicals, which is to be implemented by GFCL EV (SFZ) LLC, a subsidiary of the global inoxgfl group.
The signing ceremony took place in the headquarters of the public authority for special economic zones and free zones, in which sheikh Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, chairman of Opaz, together with high -ranking officials from the authority, the Salalah Free Zone and GFCL. Dr. Said Bin Khalifa Al Quraini, General Director of the development of the Opaz, explained that the authority was working on attracting strategic projects that attract the carbon neutrality and the economic diversification objectives of the Oman Vision 2040 by 2050.

The project is intended to create a local basis for the production of lithium battery materials and open wide investment options in the battery value chain. It will also create direct and indirect jobs and help to develop the skills of the Omani adolescents in this vital sector.
In cooperation with the national negotiation team, Opaz has worked the project with essential service incentives in order to achieve a sustainable local value through economic diversification, industrial innovation, technology transmission and the establishment of a strong national supply chain.
