Alcona High School is not what you would call big. It lies in a not very populated section of northern Michigan, a few miles from Lake Huron in one direction and a few miles from Huron National Forest in the other.

But students study criminal justice, calculus and concrete technology and take college-level courses in Western civilization, physics and anatomy.
