Milwaukee – The US administration for security and health administration (OSHA) imposed strong fines after a scaffolding building in Milwaukee County's courthouse last autumn after a scaffolding defender.

The incident occurred on October 10 and included two workers who were trapped but were ultimately intact.

The collapse caused Osha to examine the construction company for potential security violations.

According to Osha's findings, Berglund Construction of 85,116 US dollars is confronted for a number of dangers and security violations in connection with the incident. The most identified important topics include improper furnishings of the scaffold, which lacked essential restrictions and anchors that were necessary to prevent collapse.

In addition, the investigation showed that the life solzers were not securely attached and had not emphasized enough safety training for employees who were not supervised by a qualified “competent person” as needed.

Terry Konell, owner of the TC risk management – an organization that specializes in security training and Osha compliance – gets the concern about the situation.

“What happened here seems to be avoidable, is that your snack?” Asked Ryan Jenkins from TMJ4.

“I would say that 95 to 98 percent of all accidents are avoidable,” said Konell. “One thing that really affects me is that there were many failures here, and as I would say, they are really a scaffold -compliance 101 problems.”

The importance of regular inspections and reasonable training also emphasized.

“Where was the competent person and why were these things not seen? Because they should be inspected every day,” he said.

In response to the violations, Ted Larkin, Security Director for Berglund Construction, said the company took the violations “very seriously”.

Jenkins also turned to the Milwaukee County David Crowley office.

“In the management of the district, the district checked the incident report and worked with the contractor to ensure that the jobs in this project prevent future incidents. Milwaukee County applied for additional safety measures for the next phase of work that has recently started.

All of this as the next construction phase will continue in the courthouse.
