Some residents of Prior Park, St. James, are fed up with running the time it takes to repair the main street.
However, the authorities ask for more patience and explain the various challenges that take place in the completion of the street work.
The 3.7 million dollar -Straßen rehabilitation project of 3.7 million US dollars is carried out by CO Williams Construction with the Treaty of the Ministry of Transport and Work and financed by the Development Bank of Latin America and Caribbean. The project management company is Stonesbridge Construction Inc.
Some residents who applied for anonymity complained about the work.
A former resident of Park Crescent said that he had to wash his vehicle constantly as a result of mud. He also criticized the width of the sidewalk on a section of the street and said that on both sides there were four feet of the sidewalk, and large vehicles could no longer be convenient.
“It's too long, man, ridiculously long. These colleagues have to invest a little more time and end the street.
“See how you will run until next year. This is every month after month. That was very impractical,” he said.
Another resident said she had been informed that the work should be completed by April. He said while estimated that the work was done, it took too long and there was minimal communication.
“They claim that they have to dig up the whole street and put them down again. We don't want to sound ungrateful, but they know that I have to pay 100 US dollars every week to clean my car. And some morning that you get up and block the street does not receive prior notice.
A woman said they didn't expect the work to take so long and she now had to plan her exits carefully.
“You have to plan beforehand if you go somewhere. I have to give myself additional time if
I have to go somewhere, ”she said.
However, not everyone is upset about work. A man said he found that there were many complications and was of the opinion that the road would be stronger and would be over for longer.
The workers on the premises showed that they had to deal against the weather, unexpected cave systems, the scope of the work due to infrastructural weaknesses and the taking into account supply companies.
In a press release, the project management consultant at Stonesbridge Construdge Inc., Craig Archer, explained that the project began during the January and was originally supposed to be completed in six months, a further excavation of the location resulted in the need for additional work to ensure a more permanent basis for the road.
“The original scope was for a deep grinding, a simpler exercise in about six months, but when the contractor began south of the roundabout, there was no suitable one
Found under the base material below the street, ”said the engineer.
“So, where it was originally expected, that the work was sunk from there to about two feet and built up, the contractor had to dig up to about six feet in many areas before he found stone and that a more comprehensive excavation extended the completion for the project.”
However, Archer assured the residents that the street work would be completed in just a few weeks and apologized for the “inevitable” delay in which he explained that everyone that was observed by the residents was probably the result of specialized craftsmen who were waiting for the delivery of materials.
In response to concerns about the width of the street in some areas, he explained that the road was built in line with agreed technical standards, since the view of the view of the views of the characteristics of people and the complexity and time frames that are around a residential area
In the land acquisition were taken into account.
