QU showcases energy and sustainability innovations at QatarEnergy LNG meeting

Qatar University (QU) participated in the 19th QatarEnergy LNG Engineering Conference, organized by QatarEnergy and attended by leading experts, professionals and decision makers from around the world.

QU's participation reflects its commitment to advance research and innovation in key sectors and promote collaboration between academia and industry in support of sustainable development and the Qatar National Vision 2030.

The QU Pavilion attracted widespread attention and showcased a wide range of research projects and technological innovations, highlighting QU's efforts to support sustainable energy and digital transformation. QU's breakthrough innovations included a hybrid energy harvesting system that combines piezoelectric and electromagnetic technologies for remote sensing in oil and gas pipelines and non-destructive testing solutions. The system uses ultrasonic waves to evaluate sustainable building materials such as recycled fiber concrete and 3D printing technologies.

The university also presented several technical solutions that support sustainability and workplace safety. These included the innovative ClearExhaust device, which can reduce diesel engine emissions by up to 30%; an intelligent vibration isolation system using hybrid magnetic materials; the Raqeeb automated heat stress monitoring platform; and a high-efficiency car cooler for hot climates.

In the area of ​​intelligent and robotic technologies, the university showcased advanced innovations that improve performance in industrial and environmental sectors. Highlights included HazBot, a robot for inspections in hazardous environments; Robotic systems for inspecting gas tanks and complex pipelines; the MasterPi system for developing automation solutions; and a spherical photovoltaic solar system to improve solar energy efficiency.

Faculty members and students also participated in scientific sessions and presentations and presented research posters on topics such as innovation, technology, sustainability, integrity, operational reliability and safety, and best practices for operational excellence. This engagement provided students with valuable opportunities to gain practical experience and exchange ideas with industry experts, fostering new avenues of collaboration and professional development.

Through this participation, Qatar University reaffirms its continued commitment to supporting scientific research, innovation and the development of national talent, further cementing its position as a leading center for education and applied research and contributing to the country's economic and technological progress.
