RECORD's annual innovation conference returns to New York on October 30th

With Archtober officially in full swing in New York City, the countdown is on to a can't-miss end-of-month architecture and design event: RECORD's annual innovation conference.

The October 30 meeting will be held for the third consecutive year at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Lower Manhattan and will feature a compelling lineup of international practitioners and related design professionals who will present throughout the day-long event. They include Jennifer Bonner, founder of creative design firm MALL; Amin Taha, chairman of London-based Groupwork; Anda and Jenny French, founding partners of Boston-based studio French 2D (a 2019 Design Vanguard); Massimo Alvisi and Junko Kirimoto, founding partners of the Rome-based practice Alvisi Kirimoto; and Michael Brotherton, partner at SITU Fabrication in Brooklyn. The entire day's agenda, including the names/topics of each speaker's presentations, can be viewedeD Here.

The conference will conclude with remarks from Thomas Phifer, founder of Thomas Phifer and Partners. Phifer, a former innovation speaker, returns this year to accept the inaugural Architect of RECORD Award. The award, announced late last month, recognizes Phifer for a Lifelong professional achievements and exceptional work published in the pages of the magazine.

The celebration of Phifer's work will continue after the 2025 Innovation Conference concludes with the Architectural Record Awards ceremony, also held at the Museum of Jewish Heritage. In addition to Phifer, the other recipients of our inaugural awards program will also be honored during the event, which includes a cocktail reception and presentation of honors. Caitlin Mueller, associate professor at MIT, will accept the Innovator of the Year Award, while Carlos Cerezo Davila, Global Director of Sustainability at KPF, will be honored with the Rising Professional Award. In addition to these three individual awards, RECORD editors will announce the best built and unbuilt projects of the year in various categories. These winners will be officially announced in the November issue of the magazine in a special section on the Architectural Record Awards.

Anyone who takes part in the innovation conference can earn up to 6.5 AIA LU/HSW. Students, young professionals and AIA members receive a reduced rate when registering. There is also a special group rate for companies with five or more tickets. Registration for the Architectural Record Awards Reception and Ceremony, which will take place immediately following the Innovation Conference, is included as part of the conference at no additional charge. However, if you only want to take part in the evening awards reception and awards ceremony and not the daytime conference, you can do so for a separate price. Further registration details can be found here.

We look forward to your visit on October 30th!
