School authority award 202 million USD contract for the new High School | Training

The Loudoun County School Board has awarded a contract worth more than 202 million US dollars for the construction of the district's next high school.

The high school 14, which is located on the same campus as Watson Mountain Middle School in the Dulles North Area, is planned to a size of 347,000 square meters.

During the school authority on August 12th, the board, Chief Operations Officer Kevin Lewis, recommended that the board to approve a contract for USD 202,599,000 with Howard Shockey & Sons for the construction of the school. Usually the administrative council's review process would take longer, but Lewis said that the deadline for the contract was September 13th and the next board meeting on September 9 would leave a too short time for the contractor to discuss and sign contracts with its subcontractors.

The board changed its session agenda and unanimously approved the contract price.

Shockey and Sons, a construction company based in Winchester, offered the lowest of the five offers for the project, whereby the next lowest almost $ 204.2 million was. None of the five companies that have submitted offers has in Loudoun.

According to Lewis, the amount of the contract is under what LCPS has appreciated for the construction of the new school.

The High School 14 is scheduled to open in autumn 2028.
