SIG works with local companies to build the first comprehensive recycling system in Egypt for beverage cartons

The provider of Packaging Solutions SIG has worked with Plastic Bank, Carta Misr and Tilegreen to start the country's first end-to-end recycling system for used aseptic beverage cartons. This initiative aims to redesign the country's recycling infrastructure in which historically there are no formal waste and recycling systems.

The partnership deals with several phases of the recycling process and integrates innovative technologies and local specialist knowledge. Plastic Bank manages the collection of used beverage cartons and uses a blockchain-secured platform to ensure traceability and transparency. This system enables waste collectors and enables you to convert away materials into a reliable source of income.

Carta Misr, a local paper mill, will play a crucial role in the initiative by separating paper fibers from the aluminum and polymer layers of the boxes. This process will deliver high -quality recycled paper products, which contributes to a more sustainable manufacturing landscape. In the meantime, Tilegreen, an Egyptian start-up, will transform the polyal mixture into hard-wearing locking stones, which demonstrates the versatility of recycled materials.

Abdelghany Eladib, President and General Manager for India, Middle East and Africa at SIG, emphasized the potential of the initiative: “This cooperation ensures that all materials from used drinks cartons can be recycled, which prevents components from ending. Our efforts are an example of the need to have sustainable innovation in today's economy.”

The initiative not only focuses on ecological sustainability, but also creates economic opportunities for local communities. By determining reliable recycling frameworks, it supports a constant living for waste collectors and engages consumers through concrete applications of recycled materials such as the construction of products.

Mohammed Gamal, CEO of Carta Misr, Added: “Used Beverage Cartons Are A Rich Source of High-Quality Fibre, and this Partnership With Sig Allows Us to Harness This Valuable Resource Effectical. By Integration Thesis Fibres into Our Production Processes, WE Production Superior Paper Products While Reducing The Need for Additional Raw Materials.

Khaled Raafat, CTO and co -founder of Tilegreen said: “The conversion of polyal into permanent building materials that transform our patented technology using our patented technology not only wastes the landfolter, but also offers a scalable, sustainable solution for the construction industry. Together we create a future in which sustainable and economical advances occur.
