As a producer and composer behind some of the greatest songs such as “Beat it” and “Billie Jean” – not to mention, Quincy Jones was nothing less than a musical legend. So, it is Really A surprise that his real estate portfolio was equally legendary? Six months after Jones died, his Bel Air House was officially launched for a whopping 59.99 million US dollars.
We saw how many celebrities were brought onto the market -sometimes they don't stay sold for years -but the price of almost 60 million US dollars is by no means cheap. But while this list creates a lot of sticker shock, it captures Jones' architectural perspective unique.
“There are houses built for specifications and others who often seem to act their hands – but then there are houses like this that almost never come onto the market,” explains David Kramer, who lists the website about his group of the same name at Compass. “In addition, the legacy of Quincy Jones, and it becomes not only a unique architectural offer, but a piece of cultural history.”
The residence concluded in the early Aught was built to bring the resort to California sensitivity. In fact, Jones reported reported by a hotel in South Africa called Palace of the lost city-and typed the architect Gerald “Jerry” Allison to transform his vision into reality in real estate. (Entertaining fact: Jones and Allison were exactly friends of the high school and gave this passion project a personal touch.)
At almost 25,000 square foot, this property is anchored by a circular central wing, which is located a spacious living room, a wine cellar with tasting room, inner garden as well as a games and Cabana games that opens for a resort style pool. The east wing includes the main suite, which has several walk -in cupboards, a private balcony and a special training room, while the west wing has three additional suites. Oh, and did we mention that the house also offers an office with a reception area, a demonstration room and a gallery?
Although this residence is by no means cheap, the Jones family hopes that the new owner loves the house as much as the late composer. “Our family has a lifelong value of wonderful memories and meaning in this house,” said daughter Rashida Jones The Wall Street Journal. “We hope the new owner will continue the legacy of love, laughter and beauty, which is synonymous with the name Quincy Jones. ”
